FARMER DIES IN STORE

VICTIM OF HEART DISEASE

"Wealthy Putnam County Man, on Visit to Indianapolis Meets Sudden End, and Coroner Finds Wife After Search"

Nathan W. Adler, a wealthy farmer living near Bainbridge, Ind., dropped dead in the restroom on the fifth floor of the New York Store shortly after 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Mr. Adler had gone to the store on a shopping tour, and it is thought, had gone to the restroom to read a newspaper. Death was caused by heart failure.

Adler and his wife, Mrs. Mattie Adler, came to Indianapolis Monday afternoon in their automobile to visit Mrs. Harry Dempsey, 2914 Paris avenue, a niece of Mrs. Adler's. They had intended to return to Bainbridge yesterday afternoon. About 8 o'clock yesterday morning, Mr. Adler left the house, saying that he was going to run down town, and do some shopping, and that he would be back by 11 o'clock. He left his automobile standing in front of the New York store. He made no purchases. It is thought he purchased a paper and went directly to the restroom, when he entered the building.

"Mrs. Adler Notified"

Mrs. Adler did not learn of her husband's death until 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The body was taken to Renihan & Blackwell's morgue, 128 West Ohio street. The man's name and address were found on a check on a keyring and Coroner John J. Blackwell began a search for his relatives.

By telephoning to Bainbridge he learned that Mrs. Adler was in the city, and that she was suppose to be vsiting her niece, Mrs. Harry Dempsey. Mr. Blackwell located the Dempsey home about 3 o'clock and he asked Mrs. Dempsey to tell Mrs. Adler of her husband's death. Adler was a brother of former representative Frank Adler, now a resident of Chicago. He was one of the wealthiest farmers in Putnam County and his country home, "Fountain Place," located about three miles southeast of Bainbridge, is counted one of the county's most delightful homes. The body was taken to Coatsville this morning. The funeral will be held at "Fountain Place" Thursday.

This is my great-grandfather Morgan Jenkins who was born in Putnam County, Indiana this is as close to an obituary I have found for him. He was the son of Cornelius and Sidney Winifred Wright Jenkins. Cornelius was the son of Elijah and Elizabeth Myers Jenkins who are buried in Parks/Jenkins Cemetery. Cornelius and Winnie lived in Putnam County till the 1880 they moved to Wayne County, Iowa where their son Sylvester E. Jenkins lived. I have found no obituaries for them. Morgan died July 10, 1923.
